Today was the day we went to the three different feeding programs. Our team split into 3 groups. Myself and Obi, Alicia and Joe, and Abigail, Aaron and Jerry. Alicia and Joe went to Dunggo-an. Aaron, Abigail, and Jerry went to SacSac.
Obi and I visited Manquinia feeding program. It is the original feeding program started by Jon- Ray when he was younger. The travel there started with a very, very rough road into the mountains. It was rough, but kinda fun! The new head of the program Reg went with us. Once we arrived, we were greeted with two ladies with two flower necklaces. They put them around our necks as we walked in the door. We were greeted with lots of beautiful smiles. Reg introduced us; I was first to speak. I spoke on the story in Matthew about the little children coming to Jesus. It was a new and exciting experience having Reg being our translator. She was excellent not only on the speaking part, but getting the emotion behind what I was saying. Obi was next to speak, which he spoke on the verse in Jeremiah about even as a youth we can do God's will. He prayed with the kids, and they received well.
After we were done speaking, the kids went and got their rice. They gathered around Obi and I, and we had a question and answer period. They were very interested in Africa and my life in the USA. They told me several times that they were someday going to come and visit me. After the kids were done eating, Reg took Obi and I to 3 houses and we prayed for the families there. I was so privileged to meet these couples and get to bless them.
One of my favorite parts today, was when Bobby came to pick out group up, but the van wasn't working. We were all sitting in the back of the van with no air conditioning. The clutch was broken. Tommy turned around and said, "Does anyone have a Bobby pin?" I was the only one, I handed it to him. Next thing we knew, we were on our way. The bobby pin saved the day! Tommy said, "A bobby pin for Bobby Pin!"
We headed up to the church in SacSac. It was on top of this mountain. Amazing view from the church building. We celebrated after there was a baby dedication. Joe, Aaron, Jerry, and I had the opportunity to play with the kids.
I am so thankful for this experience, it really is changing my life. I love the people and their heart for God and their faithfulness to the people of God.
