Greetings once again! Today was the second and last medical mission day. We split into two groups again. Jerry and I, and then Obi and Christine. Dan Liu had to leave early today to get back to work Monday. Jerry and I saw about 140 patients throughout the day today. It is difficult, when they need medications we do not have, and they need it long term. They do not have money for medicines, vitamins, or even proper food most of the time. Trying to educate about lifestyle is also difficult here, just like in the United States. For example, people drink coffee all day here, and then they have high blood pressure and high heart rate. But they are not willing to decrease coffee intake. It’s very difficult.
But we offered them our best. Those that were truly sick and had infections got medicine they needed, and everyone else got to see an American doctor, which is a big deal to them. More than that we prayed with most of the patients, and we hope and pray that the life of Jesus touched them more than we ever could.
Joe was a big hit at Jerry and I’s site with the kids. For some reason they called him “Mountain Joe”. They just yell, “Mountain Joe! Mountain Joe!” Audrey, Joe, and Kelly Liu were an amazing help with blowing up balloons for kids and keeping them entertained. Kelly headed up making salvation bracelets with the kids with different colored beads that represent different parts of the salvation story. So, children’s ministry was definitely going on while we were doing the medical part. They look up to us so much. They feel we are the most beautiful, most blessed people ever. It’s so humbling for them to treat us with so much respect and adoration.
Tonight we had another very successful crusade. Pastor Thomas Buckley from Oklahoma has been with us and he preached. He did a wonderful job. Several people received Jesus as their Savior and several more came forward for prayer. It was a great time.
Well, we are worn out from two very full and hot days. We hope to get some good rest tonight, have a more restful and relaxing day tomorrow, and enjoy our remaining day and a half in the Philippines!
